The Taste of Manna
Baal HaSulam
Let us learn
from those who ate manna.
Manna is called
"Heaven's bread,"
As it did not
materialize
In this world.
Our sages said
That each who
tasted it
Found whatever
they wished for,
Opposite forms.
Thus, one might
taste sweetness in it
While another
would taste it as acrid and bitter.
Hence, the
manna itself
Had to have
consisted
Of both opposites
at once.
